Tried it. Don’t like knitting socks with dpn’s. The end!
OK, not the end. I gave it a really sincere college try. There are some folks who insist that knitting socks on dpn’s is the cat’s meow, and I greatly respect their preference. I can earnestly report, though, that I’m not one of those folks.
Maybe I tried too hard. I figured that, if I’m gonna do it, why not do it in style. So I ordered a set of expensive Signature needles size 1 (I also don’t do zero) – the best, right? Wrong! While I love my Signature straight and circular needles, those teeny weenie dpn’s are sharp! Ouch kabibble! I think after 4 or 5 rounds, I drew blood. No kidding.
Not to be deterred (many told me to throw in the towel, but I’m not a quitter), I switched to bamboo, just before my yarn became blood soaked. Better, I must confess. But still not enamored. I’ve vowed to follow the sock through the heel with my 5 little sticks, then see where I go. Next up? 2 circular needles. Who says an old dog can’t learn new tricks.
