Assigned Pooling – The Starfall Cowl (A Zoom Event)
Sunday November 12
1:30-3:30pm PDT via Zoom
Michele Lee Bernstein / PDXKnitterati

Jump on the pooling band wagon with us!  ‘Assigned Pooling’ is the hot new knitting technique, judging by the recent and prolific influx of new yarns on the market specifically dyed to pool.  Learn how to make these gorgeous yarns work for you.  We'll be starting the newest assigned pooling design from PDXKnitterati – Starfall Cowl - a fingering weight bandana cowl with a cascade of stars on a stockinette background.   Choose a yarn that is meant to pool; you’ll want an approximately 8 inch (20 cm) run of your pooling color.  Choose from either our Dream in Color Smooshy Assigned Pooling colorways or the MadTosh x Barker Wools Collaboration colors for a perfectly gorgeous Starfall Cowl.

Prerequisite Skills.  Knit/purl, cast on/bind off, working in the round.

Homework. Cast on 120 stitches using the long tail cast on.  Join to work in the round.  Knit two rounds. (See handout for Michele's favorite method for joining to work in the round.)

Supplies you’ll need.  One skein fingering weight yarn, dyed for assigned pooling.  We recommend MadTosh x Barker Wools Collaboration and Dream In Color's Smooshy Assigned Pooling Colorways.  20” US 4 (3.5mm) or US 5 (3.75mm) circular needle; whichever size to get a fabric you like.  Choose a needle with a smooth, tapering join between cable and needle so your yarn overs can move smoothly. One stitch marker to note beginning of round.

$45, plus supplies.  Fee includes pattern.
