Take Me Out To The Ballgame

Springtime! For some, it means digging in the dirt and planting flowers. For others, its a call to get outside. For me, its an excuse to plop down in front of the boob tube, basket of knitting at the ready, and watch grown men swing a piece of wood at a tiny ball, run in a circle trying to avoid getting tagged and cross the finish line, and wallowing in the dirt as they fly head (or foot) long toward a square piece of rubber. And on very special occasions, jumping in the car and going to a live version of the shenanigans. Ah, how I love baseball!!!

May 29th marks the end of what my husband half-jokingly calls 'the Trifecta.'  Beginning with my birthday at the end of April, followed by Mother's Day, and wrapping up with our wedding anniversary, the three highly important and celebration worthy days take a toll on his wallet.  Hence the grimace on his face as he references the trio.  And the sigh of relief as we make it through the 29th of May.  This year, we'll be continuing a tradition - celebrating our 36th year together as hubby and wife at the 'ole ballpark.  Saying 'cheers' as we lift a pint and a helmet full of nachos, rooting for our Mariners (who by the way, are playing quite well this season).  Last year we followed the team to Denver as the boys played the Rockies.  A lovely trip that included not only baseball on our anniversary, but a side trip across the Rockies to Arches National Park.  We're not going as exotic this year, but the day will include a fancy downtown hotel. a new jersey, and a glass of red wine (or two) in a plastic cup at Safeco Field.  Pulling out all the stops!

So where does yarn come in?  Well, it is a 3 hour drive to Seattle, which translates to 6 hours of uninterrupted knitting time for me.  Yahoo!  Think I'll wind up my Mojo (aka Mariners colored) yarn and knit some socks.  And I've talked Jay into taking another side trip - this time to Carnation and the Tolt Yarn Store.  So yup, my baseball adventure will indeed include yarn.  Happy anniversary to me!!!  And go Mariners!
