Knitted Wit’s HerStory Sock Club was born out of a desire to learn more about women who’ve made a difference, the unsung female heroines. For 2018, HerStory goes international with a specific focus on women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math). It’s a mighty list, and we can’t wait to tell their story in color!
April’s HerStory colorway honors the trailblazing, mind-bendingly brilliant Iranian mathematician, Maryam Mirzakhani. Maryam studied curves that sit upon surfaces, so as to understand the surfaces, things not bound by the constraints of the Real World. Whoa! Making math beautiful. And kinda craftsy.
The colorway, Moduli Curve, was inspired by the Nasir al-Mulk Mosque (aka Pink Mosque) in Iran, emulating the pinks, blues and yellows that dance across the intricate tile floor of the mosque as the sun pours through its beautiful stained glass windows. Simply beautiful!
