An Intro to Lace Knitting
Sunday November 24th, 1:30-3:30pm
Shelly Dinh

The perfect first foray into lace knitting! Carol Feller’s Anglesea Shawl is a lovely design to get you started. This crescent shape shawl starts with a garter tab cast-on – a common beginning for shawls. Once you’ve mastered the cast-on, settle into the fairly simple yet beautiful 15-stitch lace repeat, which is a great way to begin your lacework adventure. We’ll also spend time learning to read charts.

Prerequisite skills. You should know how to cast-on, knit, purl, and have some experience with increase and decrease stitches.

Supplies you’ll need. 2 skeins of Wonderland Yarns Blossoms Gradient OR 1 skein fingering weight gradient yarn (400 yards) and 1/2 skein (200 yards) fingering weight yarn in a solid color that is a shade lighter or darker than your gradient; 32 inch US 6 (4.0 mm) circular needle, or size to achieve gauge of 5.5 stitches per inch; approximately 20 stitch markers; Anglesea Shawl pattern (available for purchase on Ravelry).

Prior to class homework. Work a gauge swatch in your intended yarn, 30 stitches/12 rows to determine your correct needle size. If you have more than 600 yards of yarn, gauge is not critical for this project.

*This is an in-person class, held at For Yarn’s Sake. $50, plus supplies.
