Jump into the Deep End with Brioche Increases and Decreases
Via Zoom Sunday November 7th 1-3pm PST
Michele Lee Bernstein / PDXKnitterati
So you’ve mastered two-color brioche rib. What next? Increases and decreases with the Deep End Hat or Cowl, or Madrona Cowl! You’ll learn most of the increases and decreases on the first patterning round, and then have lots of relaxing brioche rib before the next increases and decreases. We will learn and practice double and quadruple increases, left- and right-leaning double decreases, and get an introduction to quadruple decreases. We’ll also learn more about reading your brioche knitting and fixing more mistakes.
Prerequisite Skills. Knit/purl, cast on/bind off, working in the round, know how to work 2 color brioche rib. This is not a beginning brioche class.
Supplies you’ll need. One light colored and one dark colored worsted weight yarn, 100 yards each, 16" US 6 circular needle, stitch markers. A row counter is helpful, too. (You can use a 24” needle for the cowl, but it may be tight, depending on your gauge.)
Homework. Prior to class, cast on and work through the four set-up rounds for the Deep End Hat as indicated in pattern (brioche rib), or the setup rounds for Deep End Cowl or Madrona Cowl. See handout for a bit of extra homework for cowls.
$40, plus supplies
Once registered, you’ll receive an email with a class handout and Zoom information. A minimum of 4 students is required for the class to go forward; if that threshold hasn’t been met 3 days prior to the class, we will cancel, and refund your registration fee. Because class size is limited to 12 students and instructor fees are committed in advance based on enrollment, refunds will not be issued for cancellations within one week of the scheduled class. Apologies, but missed classes may not be made up or credited toward future classes / purchases.
