Stranded Colorwork – The Islesburgh Toorie
Sunday October 20th, 2-4:30pm PDT
Michele Lee Bernstein / PDXKnitterati

Master the stranded colorwork technique and learn to knit the official pattern of Shetland Wool Week 2024 – an event held annually in Scotland’s Shetland Islands, celebrating its native wool and associated crafts.  This year’s design was created by Anne Doull – daughter of this year’s official Wool Week Patrons, Addie and Margaret Doull. Anne’s design takes inspiration from the family’s Flock Book roots and the location of their farm. The hat features a distinctive Shetland Ram motif. Inclusion of the wave lace pattern celebrates mom Margaret’s skillful knitted lace. And the colorways are inspired by the many natural shades of their Shetland flock, as well as the heather filled hills and sunset views from the farm. The perfect project for those new to stranded color knitting, as well as seasoned experts!
