Master the stranded colorwork technique and learn to knit the official pattern of Shetland Wool Week 2019 – an event held annually in Scotland’s Shetland Islands, celebrating its native wool and associated crafts. This year’s design was created by ‘Man of Wool,’ Oliver Henry, with help from knitwear designer Sandra Manson. Oliver explained the inspiration behind the hat design thusly - “My Roadside beanie features two common roadside sights in Shetland; Shetland sheep and fishing boats. Both of them have loomed large in my life as a Shetlander.” Supplies you’ll need – Seven 25 gram skeins of Jamieson’s Spindrift (1 each Twilight, Grouse, Moss, Dewdrop, Mist, White and Autumn), US 1 (2.5mm) and US 2 (3.0mm) 16” needles, US 2 (3.0mm) dpns, and Roadside Beanie pattern, available for free at https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/roadside-beanie-2.
