Thrill of the Thrum
Sunday November 17th, 2-4pm
Michele Lee Bernstein
What’s a thrum? A bit of fiber worked into your knitting for extra warmth and cushiness. This technique has been used to make super-warm mittens in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, for hundreds of years. They know cold! In this very fun two-hour class, Michele will teach you how to make thrums with wool roving, and how to work them into your knitting as you create a cozy pair of her Thrumbelina Slippers.
Supplies you’ll need – 200 yards worsted weight yarn (not superwash), 2 ounces of wool roving, US 6 straight or circular needles. The Thrumbelina Slippers pattern (available for purchase on Ravelry; discount code included with class handout).
*This is an in-person class, held at For Yarns Sake. $50, plus supplies
