Neighborhood Fiber Co.

10am to 6pm

**Trunk Show Update**

Just as she was getting ready to board a plane to Portland, Karida tested positive for that nasty little bug that won't seem to leave us alone - COVID. In good conscience, she could not travel, nor be here in person. We will miss her! But not all is lost. We have 6 huge boxes, stuffed to the brim with extra special goodies from Neighborhood Fiber Co. Our table will be spilling over with gradients, mini-skein sets, kits, and all sorts of fiber treasures not normally found on our shelves. Something is sure to find its way home with you.

Here's a message from Karida.

We are over the moon to be welcoming Karida Collins, owner and creative force behind Neighborhood Fiber Company. All the way from Baltimore, she’s excited to spend the day meeting crawlers and sharing what makes her yarn so special. Book signing (check out Karida's designs in Modern Day Knitting Field Guide No. 18: Beginnings), kits, yarn bundles and mini kits, and Neighborhood Fiber Co. collectible bling - so much fun to be had! And she’s bringing several lovely bases you haven’t seen on our shelves (yet).

We're introducing a brand new, For Yarn's Sake exclusive colorway during this year's Crawl. Meet Rosie Toes, named in honor of owner Anne's granddaughter, Rosalie.  The ever-so-pretty mingling of cream, yellow and pink are the perfect reflection of an adorable, 6-year old 100% girlie girl - always in a fancy dress and sparkly shoes, with at least one (often multiple) crowns on her head. Rosie Toes is available in all of our Neighborhood Fiber Co. bases, including the newest to grace our shelves - Capital Luxury Sport, which will make it's debut over the 2024 RCYC weekend.

Take a peek at what we have to offer from this wonderful company HERE.

Neighborhood Fiber Co. joined our little slice of yarn heaven in the fall of 2023, and we're delighted to be a Flagship store (meaning you won't find their yarns anywhere else in the Portland metro area). Beautiful, uniquely hand-dyed yarns, inspired by urban landscapes to knitters, crocheters and fiber artists around the world. Founded in 2006 in Washington, DC, the fiber arts company now occupies a former firehouse in Baltimore.

Neighborhood Fiber Co. was born in a basement apartment in Washington, DC. A total city girl obsessed with color, owner Karida Collins set out to provide the world with hand-dyed yarns inspired by and named to reflect the natural beauty and diverse neighborhoods throughout the nation’s capital. Since then, she has added many more colors to reflect a multitude of neighborhoods, landmarks, and locales. Since 2011, Neighborhood Fiber Co. has made a home in Baltimore, MD, and continues to offer vibrant, one-of-a-kind colors inspired by urban landscapes.

Now beginning its 15th year of business, Neighborhood Fiber Co. offers a wide variety of different yarn bases in more than 70 colors. The majority of the yarns are made with GOTS-certified Organic Merino. While still machine washable, this wool is free from the harmful chemicals associated with the traditional superwash process. The decision to prioritize environmental responsibility is just one aspect of Neighborhood Fiber Co.'s reputation within the fiber arts community as a company that is committed to justice, empowerment, and equality. In 2020, Karida founded the NFC Momentum Fund, a donor-advised charitable fund that has distributed more than $50k in grants to community organizations in the Baltimore community.
