Our 2026 Shop Patterns

Our two patterns this year speak to the 2026 Crawl's theme, Mythical Beasts. For both, we drew inspiration from one of our favorite fabled creatures, gnomes. Both patterns create an accessory not only for you to sport, but for your favorite gnome as well. Please note, both patterns are for accessories, and do not include a pattern to make a gnome.

Gnot Without My Gnome Scarf
(Knit)

Designed by Anne Lindquist

It gets chilly in Grimblewood. And Gnolan really loves a warm scarf. Not just any scarf, though, as he’s quite the fashionista among his fellow gnomes. A little lace, and some bling. Perfecto!

We’ve designed a lovely lattice and lace scarf in both a human and gnome version. Beginning with a lacey rib stitch, the scarf evolves into a long section of lattice work framed by the lacey rib on either side. Narrow and long, the human version can be folded in half with the ends tucked through, or wrapped multiple times around your neck. And the matching gnome version dresses up your favorite gnome.

Sarah Schira (Imagined Landscapes) is the master designer of gnomes. Visit her website www.imaginedlandscapes.com to see all the design possibilities. Her book, The Gnomes of Grimblewood is a must have for every gnome enthusiast. We chose to dress up Gnolan the Swirly Gnome (one of the designs in Sarah’s book), as well as Gnorton (Choose Your Gnome Adventure, available for purchase on Ravelry).

Please note – gnome patterns are not included; sold separately on Ravelry, the Imagined Landscapes website, and as part of The Gnomes of Grimblewood.

Tanttu & Kansa Bags
(Crochet)

Designed by Shelly Dinh

Tonttu is a Finnish gnome, and Kansa can be translated as 'people' or 'folk.' Shelly has always loved the word tonttu for gnome - not sure of where she first heard it, she's used tonttu for a long time when referring to gnomes. Since we're making accessories for both a gnome and a real person, Shelly decided to play on that even further. The Kansa (person sized) bag has a filet crochet pattern on the front that shows a simple tanttu design. The Tonttu (gnome sized) bag has a simple design that incorporates details from the Kansa bag, but also includes a simple embroidery outline of a kansa. Technically, the embroidery design would be called a tikku-ukko (stick man).

*Please note* – Gnome patterns are not included. Shelly has designed an adorable crocheted gnome Little Tanttu, available on Ravelry HERE.

The Yarn

Gnot Without My Gnome Scarf (knit) and Tanttu & Kansa Bags (crochet), are both worked with the same Waifu yarn - Sparkle Sport (80% Shaniko Wool 20% Stellina, 316 yards / 100 grams). Waifu created two delicious custom colorways exclusively for us and the 2026 Rose City Yarn Crawl. Gilded Chocolate is a rich chocolate brown tonal with a dusting of gold sprinkles. Strawberry Truffle is a soft dusty rose pink, also gilded with a touch of gold, and speckled with pops of the same chocolatey brown as in Gilded Chocolate. Each of our designs is worked with one skein of Waifu's Sparkle Sport. Make a purchase from For Yarn's Sake during the Crawl, and these lovely patterns are yours to download for FREE!

Continuing to Support Our Community

As in past years, 10% of our shop pattern kit sales will be donated to Michael's Place. Created in 2005, Michael’s Place is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization where adults with developmental disabilities have the time of their lives working and playing with 50 Miniature Horses, 6 alpacas, and gathering eggs from 25 chickens. Individuals with disabilities who may be afraid of a standard size horse jump at the chance to embrace the small ponies. Their goals are to help each participant have a good day, teach skills, increase self-esteem, increase confidence, mobility, and recognized as productive successful individuals. We're incredibly excited to support the ongoing good work of this wonderful organization, offering a unique environment for adults with special challenges to thrive.
