The Most Wonderful Time of the Maker's Year

December 1st is here! And so is my hands down favorite knitting adventure of the entire year. Today is the day that I opened Clue One of Gnandad's Grand Adventure - the annual countdown to Christmas mystery gnome-along from Imagined Landscapes.

"Gnandad set out on a long adventure around the gnome world last Gnomevember.
Will he make it home in time for Longest Gnight?
And who are these friends he wrote home to say
he invited?"
Sarah Schira

From now through Christmas Eve, each day will unveil the newest adventure of Gnandad and his many friends and loved ones who live in Grimblewoods. I LOVE IT! Of course, there's the delight in knitting a new gnome; most likely two in my case, as I can never decide on just one color scheme. But there's also a wonderful, holiday inspired story, parsed out over the three weeks leading up to Christmas. There are recipes sprinkled in, as well as other fun, gnomie treats. What a fabulous grown-up advent calendar that includes playing with pretty string. And a great momentary escape each day form the hustle bustle of the holidays. I love waking up and spending a quiet hour knitting my gnome before the rest of the world comes to life.

As mentioned above, I'm gonna tackle two gnomes. Because I have two color schemes and can't choose. Both very festive - one pairing neutrals with a lovely, rich evergreen, and the other combining chocolate brown, cranberry red, and gorgeous gold. Both scream Christmas gnome, for sure.

And it's not like I've not done this before - October's mystery involved both a witchy and a pilgrim gnome, both shaped like pumpkins. And both finished as the end of the gnome along came to a close.

So here I go! If you love a unique, whimsical, silly yet fulfilling project, I invite you to join the fun as we count down the days until Santa arrives. You can get all the details on Sarah Schira's website HERE.

Happy Gnoming!!!
