Northwest Indy dyer Leanna introduces us to her beautiful hand-dyed yarns. Waifu yarns are dyed in small batches inspired by videogame art and Kpop photography. Leanna will have a variety of yarn bases, all hand-dyed in her amazing colors. And don't miss the exclusive colorways she created for our shop patterns - Strawberry Truffle Gilded Chocolate - both dyed on Sparkle Sport (80% USA sourced Shaniko Wool, 20% Stellina). Pop in and check out these not-to-be-missed, simply stunning yarns.

What is a "waifu"? Waifu is a term used for a fictional female character from non-live-action visual media (typically an anime, manga, or video game) to whom one is romantically attracted and/or whom one considers their significant other

Leanna started this journey using League of Legends splash arts, many of which are female. A joke at first, dyeing yarn based off of female video game characters and calling her yarn "waifu." But then it stuck. In early 2021 she became a huge BTS (kpop) fan and started to dye colors based off their photoshoots or music videos. Leanna's is now expanding to other kpop groups for inspiration.

A full time mom to two girls, Leanna uses her precious extra time to dye yarn and knit, crochet, and cross stitch. She also works in a local yarn store three days a week. Waifu Yarns is Leanna's creative side hustle - she loves her side hustle and hopes you will too!
