Assigned Pooling – The Starfall Cowl

Sunday March 22nd, 2-4pm

Michele Lee Bernstein / PDXKnitterati

Jump on the pooling band wagon with us!  ‘Assigned Pooling’ is the hot new knitting technique, judging by the recent and prolific influx of new yarns on the market specifically dyed to pool. Learn how to make these gorgeous yarns work for you.  We'll be starting the very popular assigned pooling design from PDXKnitterati – Starfall cowl - a fingering weight bandana cowl with a cascade of stars on a stockinette background. We'll also play with several other favorite pooling stitches; choose your favorite for your cowl. Choose a yarn that is meant to pool; you’ll want an approximately 8 inch (20 cm) run of your pooling color. Our Barker Wools and MadTosh x Barker Wools Collaboration colors are an excellent choice for a perfectly gorgeous Starfall cowl.

Prerequisite Skills.  Knit/purl, cast on/bind off, working in the round.

Homework. Cast on 120 stitches using the long tail cast on. Join to work in the round. Knit two rounds. (See handout for Michele's favorite method for joining to work in the round).

Supplies you’ll need. One skein fingering weight yarn, dyed for assigned pooling. 16” US 4 (3.5mm) or US 5 (3.75mm) circular needle; whichever size to get a fabric you like.  Choose a needle with a smooth, tapering join between cable and needle so your yarn overs can move smoothly. One stitch marker to note beginning of round. Starfall pattern (available for purchase on Ravelry; discount code included in class handout).
This is an in-person class held at For Yarn's Sake. $55, plus supplies.
